Select Giant stores will also host a Canteen Night on Friday, March 16 featuring coffee and doughnuts and be reminiscent of the 1940s. Canteen Nights will provide customers the opportunity to speak to USO volunteers and learn more about how they can support service members and their families.

“All of us at USO-Metro are proud to once again team up with our friends at Giant Food,” said Elaine Rogers, president and CEO of USO-Metro. “I love that customers can choose to either make a donation toward the many vital programs USO-Metro offers our local military members and their families or they can buy a great CareOne Package for troops traveling through our local airports or healing at local military hospitals. This partnership is a wonderful way to engage our community and we’re incredibly thankful to Giant for their continued support of our troops.”

Giant first partnered with the USO of Metropolitan Washington in March 2011 during its 75th anniversary year. At the end of the month-long giving campaign, Giant delivered $108,000 and nearly 10,000 pounds of food to USO-Metro to help support its programs and establish a food pantry at Fort Belvoir in Virginia. Hundreds of soldiers received cards from children decorated with their original artwork and created at Giant’s card-making stations.
