In the Community

At Giant, we take great pride in serving you, both at our stores and by participating in activities that support our community.

Coordinated by Giant's Public Affairs Department, our community relations programs provide funding and in-kind assistance to hundreds of charitable events and causes every week-schools, churches and synagogues, civic community groups, and more. Our focus is hunger relief programs, education, and wellness initiatives.

Our customers often play a part in our community action team. We invite you to join us in supporting programs that help fight hunger and advance public and private school programs. Please watch our Community Help Center, located at every register, for your opportunity to help. Look for information on the Community Bulletin Board and on signs at the front of our stores.

Hunger Relief

Giant is committed to the fight against hunger in our communities. In 2012, we donated nearly $7 million in cash and product to hunger relief efforts.

 

Cancer Care and Research

Since 1979, Giant has been the largest corporate supporter of the Children's Cancer Foundation, which raises funds for research and treatment of children's cancer.

 

Education

Our A+ School Rewards Program has given cash grants and educational equipment valued at over $75 million to local schools. And since 1967, Giant has sponsored "It's Academic," awarding over $2.5 million in scholarship grants.

 

Recycling and Environment

We've put a number of initiatives in place, including our Plastic Bag Recycling Program, Green store pilot program, reusable bags and eco-friendly driving.

 

Seafood Sustainability

Giant is a leader in environmentally friendly seafood practices thanks to our long-standing partnership with the New England Aquarium.
